Tewkesbury is a town in the county of Gloucestershire, England. It lies at the confluence of the Severn and Avon and gives the Borough of Tewkesbury the name. Its name comes from Theoc, an Anglo-Saxon ago, who founded here in the 7th century a hermitage, which was called Theocsbury. According to the 2001 census Tewkesbury had 10,016 inhabitants. Areas of Tewkesbury are Northway, Newtown, Mitton, Priors Park, Walton Cardiff, Wheat Pieces and Ashchurch.
