Telford

Telford is a planned city in the management unit Telford and Wrekin in the West Midlands with 162,300 inhabitants (2009). Telford is connected to the UK's motorway network via the M54 Motorway. Telford was on the drawing board and was built in the 1960s and 1970s. Existing places like Dawley, Oakengates, Wellington and Madeley were included. Telford was the Ironbridge Gorge, the valley of Ironbridge, a World Heritage Site. The River Severn in this valley is from the 1779-built Iron Bridge - spans - the world's first iron bridge. The name refers to Thomas Telford, an early modern civil engineer from the road and bridge construction. Telford International Center was from 2007 to 2010, the UK Championship, an important Snooker Tournament discharged. On the outskirts Cobra Seats, a manufacturer of car seats and motorsport accessories, has its headquarters.
