Tain (Gaelic: Baile Dhubhthaich) is a town in the Scottish council area of ​​Highland. It is located about 40 km north-north-east of Inverness and 80 km south-west of Thurso on the south coast of the Dornoch Firth. Tain is the oldest Royal Burgh in Scotland and received this status in 1457. In 2011, Tain recorded 3655 inhabitants.
