Macclesfield is an English town, about 26 kilometers south of Manchester, in the county of Cheshire, located on the eastern edge of the Cheshire Plain and the River Bollin. Macclesfield has 52,044 inhabitants (as of 2011) and is considered one of the ten British cities with the most prosperous population .. The local football club Macclesfield Town rose to the third professional league Football League One from the fifth English professional league Conference National. However, followed by a subsequent descent into the fifth English professional league. The club is located on the London Road since 1891 at the stadium "Moss Rose". Since 1953 is twinned with Eckernförde in Germany.
