Halkirk

Halkirk (Gaelic Hacraig) is a location in the Scottish Council Area Highland and traditional Caithness. It is located 10 km south of Thurso and 24 km northwest of Wick on the River Thurso. In 2011, Halkirk recorded 982 inhabitants. In the early 13th century Halkirk was the successor of Scrabster seat of the Bishops of Caithness. After a short time the seat but was moved further south to Dornoch. With Gerston and Ben Morven two distilleries were in Halkirk. The former was closed in 1882, temptation 1911th
