Enniskillen (Irish Inis Ceithleann) is the county seat of County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. The city is located on an island that separates the two parts of Lough Erne - the smaller Upper Lough from the much larger Lower Lough. The channel "Shannon-Erne Waterway" establishes a connection over 16 locks to Shannon. It was opened in 1993 again. Enniskillen is also the headquarters of the bi-national authority Waterways Ireland and the St. Macartin Cathedral of the Anglican Diocese of Clogher is. With 13,599 inhabitants (2001), Enniskillen, the largest city and economic center of the county. During Census 2001 61.5\% of residents were Catholic and 36.3\% Protestant.
