Dartford is a town in the northwest of the county of Kent in South East England and the administrative center of the borough of the same name. The city is immediately adjacent to Greater London. The town lies in Darent valley through which the old road from London to Dover leads. The town's name is based on a contraction of Darent and Ford (German: Furt).
