Berkhamsted

Berkhamsted Place was a country house in Berkhamsted in the English county of Hertfordshire. Sir Edward Carey, the Master of the Jewel Office of Queen Elizabeth I let it build in 1580 of building blocks from the ruins Berkhamsted Castle. Over the years many famous people lived in the house and welcomed illustrious guests welcome as Charles I and William Gladstone. The house was one of two Elizabethan manor houses in the city. The other was Egerton House in the High Street, which was demolished 1937th Berkhamsted Place survived 380 years long fires and renovations, but then fell into disrepair and was demolished 1967th
