Aberaeron is a coastal town in Ceredigion, Wales, and administrative headquarters of the Principal Area Ceredigion. It lies between the towns of Aberystwyth and Cardigan. 2011, the population was according to the census 1422 people. Its name derives from the Welsh Aberaeron, meaning mouth of the River Aeron. In the name of city and river, the medieval Welsh word is aer (German roughly slaughter), which can be found in the local names of Celtic gods.
