Hammamet (Arabic الحمامات, DMG al-Hammamat) is a town in northern Tunisia. It is located in the southeast of Cap Bon Peninsula and belongs to Nabeul Governorate. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the region around Hammamet because of the nearby long sandy beaches in the north and south of the city a popular destination for tourists and counts as the most visited region of the country. In 2004, the city had about 95,000 inhabitants (2004).
