Kalmar is a city in southern Sweden Kalmar County and the historic province of Småland. The town lies on the members of the Baltic Sea Kalmar Strait between the island of Öland and the Kingdom of Crystal. The six-kilometer Öland Bridge, which connects Öland with the mainland, starts in Kalmar. Kalmar is residence of the province and capital of the homonymous municipality. In Old Swedish squid probably called a stone base. At low tide you can see the stone benches still clearly visible when viewed from the Öland Bridge towards the city center.
