Holmsund

Holmsund is a Swedish town in the municipality Umea. 2010, the site had 5,489 inhabitants. Holmsund located 18 kilometers south of Umeå, the capital of the municipality of Umeå. There is a regular ferry service with the Finnish city of Vaasa. Railway terminal has Holmsund since 1922, when an existing connection between Vännäs since 1896 on the main line Stockholm floor (Main Line Through Upper Norrland) and Umea was extended. Since the opening of Botniabanan 2010 Holmsund is the newly built railway station Umeå östra (Umeå East) tied; from Umea has been around since 1988 only freight. Holmsund lives mainly from the wood and paper industry, the location is one of the hubs of the region because of its port. The Swedish company Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget operates a pulp mill in the village. National fame reached the football team IFK Holmsund, as this played a season in the Allsvenskan 1967th
