Ankarsrum is a town in the municipality of Västervik in the Swedish province of Kalmar County. Ankarsrum, located between the lakes Långsjön and Hällsjön in the historical province of Småland, was built around a traditional iron foundry. Ankarsrum bruk (now Ankarsrum Industries AB), founded in 1655, is one of the country's oldest factories. In its heyday in the first half of the 20th century, the Ankarsrum plant was the leading producer of ovens, stoves and bathtubs. Today, the plant has lost importance and the population of the place has dropped to 1254 (year 2010).
