Singapore (officially the Republic of Singapore, English Republic of Singapore, Malay Republic Singapura, Chinese 新加坡 共和国, Pinyin Xinjiapo Gònghéguó, even [ɹɪpʰʌb.lɪkʰ.əv.sɪŋ (g) ə.pʰɔː.]: 新加坡 [ɕin.tɕiɑ.pʰuɔ] Tamil சிங்கப்பூர் குடியரசு Ciṅkappūr Kudiyarasu) is an island and city state and in terms of area smallest state in Southeast Asia. He is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. Singapore is one of the cities with the world's highest cost of living. In addition, the city-state, with over eleven million foreign tourists a year to the ten most visited cities in the world and is adjacent to Hong Kong as the most important financial center in Asia. Singapore is a multiethnic state, where Chinese, Malay and Indians are the largest population.
