Victoria (also: Port Victoria) is the capital of the Republic of Seychelles. Located on the northeast coast of the island of Mahe, it is with 26,450 inhabitants (2010 census for the eight districts that make up Greater Victoria) is the largest settlement and only city in the Seychelles. Victoria (= Win, the Victorious) was originally established as a seat of British colonial rule. The main exports of the port of Victoria are vanilla spice, coconut, coconut oil, soaps and guano. For the urban area includes the 1,971 completed International Airport, a botanical garden and a technical college. As a result of the earthquake in the Indian Ocean in 2004 an important bridge was destroyed in Victoria.
