Tykocin (Yiddish: Tiktin) is a Polish town in the district of Białystok Podlaskie and also the seat of a small town building. It is located about 20 kilometers west of Bialystok in the basin of Biebrza the river Narew and has one of the best preserved historical centers of Poland. Before the Second World War Tykocin was one of the most important centers of Polish Jewry. Today it is a tourist favorite place and received among other honors as the European stork village.
