Pabianice

The pabianice county is a county with 119,000 inhabitants and belongs to the region of Łódź in Poland. Its area and covers 490.77 square kilometers is about 63 percent of arable land, v. a. in the area around Lutomiersk and Dobroń, 26 percent is forested. The biggest rise took place in the 19th century, when the cotton and textile industry developed. Today there are industrial companies in the pharmaceutical, electrical, mechanical, cotton processing and food. Locations are v. a. Pabianice and neighboring Ksawerow, where the Łódź wholesale market is located. Here the most advanced markets of its kind in Poland are sold products from agriculture and food production on one. The county suffers (still) under severe environmental problems, sewage treatment plants are under the EU Treaties planned or under construction.
