Gliwice [gli'vʲit͡sɛ] (German Gleiwitz) is an Upper Silesian county-level city in Poland's Silesia and county seat of Gliwice County (District Gliwice). With around 185,000 inhabitants, it is the fourth largest city in the province Schlesien.Gliwice from the 13th century and is one of the oldest cities of the Upper Silesian Industrial Region. The city is the seat of the Silesian University of Technology.
