Tairua is a small town on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula in the North Island of New Zealand. The village lies about 50 km east of Thames (State Highway SH 25a) and about 150 km east of Auckland. Tairua is located on the Pacific and is the obvious place for attractions such as Hot Water Beach, the Cathedral Cove, Sailors Grave, Cooks Beach and Pauanui. In 2013, the city counted 1,227 inhabitants and evolved over the years into a tourist resort. Many campervan and tent sites, holiday homes and guesthouses were built.
