Kumeu (māori for "good fruit") is a small town 25 km north-west of Auckland City in New Zealand. The administratively belongs to the town lies west Huapai, Riverhead in the north, the east Whenuapai, West Harbor in the southeast and Taupaki in the south. The Census 2006, the town had 6,603 residents, an increase of 933 since 2001. 2006 was the median annual income of NZ $ 30,600, the unemployment rate was 2.9\%. The area was originally settled by immigrants from Dalmatia on the Croatian coast, which often came from wine-growing families.
