Cambridge is a town in the Waikato region in the North Island of New Zealand. It is located 24 km southeast of Hamilton on the banks of the Waikato River. The city is known as "The Town of Trees" ( "City of Trees"). With 13,890 inhabitants (2001 census) is the largest city in Waipa District. The city is known for its thoroughbred horse stud farms, which come from a lot of good racing and show jumping. The reservoir Lake Karapiro, one of the best rowing courses in the world, is close and in 1978 and 2010 hosted the World Rowing Championships. Since 2013, the city has one of two indoor cycling tracks in New Zealand, the Avantidrome. The city is twinned with Le Quesnoy in France.
