Byblos (Greek Βύβλος, Akkadian Gubla, ancient Egyptian KBN (Kubna) later Kpn (Kupna), Arabic جبيل Jbeil) is a port city on the Mediterranean coast north of Beirut in Lebanon. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places on earth. Its port was in Phoenician and Roman times of particular importance, as well as during the Crusades in the Middle Ages.
