Tempio Pausania (gallurese: Tempiu) is a town in the province of Sassari in north-eastern Sardinia. The city has 14,243 inhabitants (December 31, 2015) and the Episcopate and Gerichtssitz.Bis 2016 Tempio Pausania was one of the capitals of the then defunct province of Olbia-Tempio. Tempio Pausania is the historical and geographical center of the Gallura. The districts of Tempio Pausania are Nuchis, Bassacutena and San Pasquale. Neighboring municipalities are Aggius, Aglientu, Arzachena, Berchidda, Bortigiadas, Calangianus, Erula, Luogosanto, Luras, Oschiri, Palau, Perfugas, Santa Teresa Gallura and Tula. Tempio has a station on the narrow-gauge railway Sassari-Palau, which is operated in the summer months from Trenino Verde.
