Sarzana is an Italian town on the river Magra in the province of La Spezia in Liguria with 21,976 inhabitants (December 31, 2015). Two forts shape the image of the place: the castle Fortezza di Sarzanello of Castruccio Castracani on a hill overlooking the city, including Matteo Civitali was involved in its construction, and the castle Firmafede (La Citadel) in the historic center.
