Santa Maria Capua Vetere is a town near Caserta province of Caserta in the Italian region of Campania in southern Italy with a population of 32,802 (December 31, 2015). Until 1861, the city of Santa Maria Maggiore said. It lies on the site of the ancient Capua (the modern city of Capua is located at the site of ancient Casilinum). The neighboring municipalities are Capua, Carinaro, Casaluce, Curti, Macerata Campania, Marcianise, San Prisco, San Tammaro and Teverola.
