Prepotto (in the Furlan dialect: Prepòt, Slovenian: Prapotno) is a northeast Italian community (comune) with 769 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2015) in the province of Udine in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The municipality is located about 18.5 kilometers east-southeast of Udine, belongs to the Comunità Montana del Torre, Natisone e Collio and borders on the one hand to the province of Gorizia and Slovenia. In the territory of the municipality is the Santuario Beata Vergine di Castelmonte, a place of pilgrimage. The goal is a Madonna from the first half of the 15th century, which was erected here on September 8, 1479. The church of the Marian shrine was built in the 16th and 17th centuries and then changed several times.
