Porto Recanati is an Italian town with 12,531 inhabitants (December 31, 2015) on the Adriatic coast in the province of Macerata, Marche region. The city is located 25 km south of Ancona. In ancient times the place was called Potentia. The city is located 5 m above sea level, and covers an area of 17 square kilometers with a population density of 557 inhabitants / km². The local saint is San Giovanni Battista. Porto Recanati is with its 8 km of sandy beach a popular tourist destination.
