Pordenone (derived from the Latin Portus Naonis; Venetic and comune Pordenon locally Slovenian Pordenún, German Pordenone) is the capital of the province and lies in the region Friuli. It has 51,229 inhabitants (December 31, 2015). The area was inhabited before the year 1000th Pordenone has a quaint historic town along the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Furthermore, the city is an important industrial center of the region. The focus is on the production of household appliances. The largest employers are Zanussi (from the Electrolux Group) and the many suppliers for the production of white goods.
