Pescocostanzo is a town in the province of L'Aquila. The place is part of the plateau "Altopiano delle cinque miglia". The village lies within the Majella National Park. The municipality of Pescocostanzo is one of the I Borghi più belli d'Italia (the most beautiful places in Italy). Here 1,128 people live (as of December 31, 2015). The neighboring locations are Ateleta, Cansano, Palena (CH), Pettorano sul Gizio, Rivisondoli, Rocca Pia and Roccaraso. The train station of Pescocostanzo is s.l.m. with a height of 1,268.82 m the second highest of the Italian rail network. Only the station at the burner on the border between Italy and Austria is still higher altitude. Pescocostanzo has a basilica (Basilica Santa Maria del Colle) which is counted among the most beautiful in Italy. Due to its location the place is touristy heavily used in summer and winter.
