Moneglia (Ligurian Munéga or Monegia) is a municipality in the Italian city of Genoa Metropolitan with 2,809 inhabitants (December 31, 2015). The community is located near the Petroniotals on the Riviera di Levante. The distance to the Ligurian capital Genoa is about 55 kilometers. The location is in one of two mountain projections limited bay and is surrounded by rich Mediterranean vegetation. To the west of the promontory Punta Moneglia is (also Monte Venino), in the east of Punta Rospo. While the first is largely unaffected, the Punta Rospo is built by several apartment buildings that cover an area up to the settlement Lemeglio. The municipality, together with Casarza Ligure, Castiglione Chiavarese and Sestri Levante the mountain community of Val Petronio. Since 1990 Moneglia is awarded each year the Blue Flag for the particularly good quality of the beaches, the sea water, service facilities and the environment in general. On 29 November 2005, the environmental management system of the municipality has been certified to ISO 14001 standards. The place belongs to I Borghi più belli d'Italia (The most beautiful places in Italy). According to the Italian classification with respect to seismic activity Moneglia 3A zone has been assigned (on a scale of 1 to 4 and A and B). This means that the church is in a seismically active zone little.
