Lido

The Lido di Venezia (from the Latin litus = beach, Coast) is the mean, Venice upstream part of Spit, ranging from Chioggia to Jesolo and separates the Venetian lagoon from the open Adriatic. It developed in the 19th century to the swanky seaside resort with luxurious hotels. As the scene of Thomas Mann's novella Death in Venice he found in literature. The Lido will host the annual International Film Festival of Venice.
