Kastelruth ([ˌkastəlruˑt]; Italian Castelrotto Ladin Ciastel) is a market town with 6802 inhabitants (December 31, 2015) at the South Tyrol Schlerngebiet near Bolzano (Italy). The community consists of the main town Kastelruth and eleven fractions, including Siusi, as well as a number of other, smaller towns (St. Valentine, St. Michael, St. Oswald, St. Vigil, Tagusens, Tisens); the fractions of the municipality includes the sprawling Seiser Alm, which accounts for as high surface almost half of its territory. The Seiser Alm is the conservation area, a smaller part belongs to the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park. Three fractions, namely Bulla, Roncadizza and surface until Jenderbach, lying on the southwest side of the valley of Val Gardena and thus belong to the Ladin language area.
