Ferrandina is a municipality in the province of Matera in the Italian region Basilicata. In Ferrandina live 8853 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2015). The place is located 35 km southwest of Matera. The neighboring communities are Craco, Grottole, Miglionico, Pisticci, Pomarico, Salandra and San Mauro Forte. The first mention of Ferrandina dates back to 1490. The town was founded when a landslide destroyed the old town. Worth seeing in the village is the church Chiesa di S. Domenico.
