Civita (in Arbëresh, IPA: [ar'bəreʃ]: Çifti) is one of Arbëresh (IPA: [ar'bəreʃ]) founded mountain community with 915 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2015) in the province of Cosenza in Calabria in southern Italy. With a view of the Ionian Sea, it is the gateway to the Pollino National Park for visitors from Apulia, Calabria and Sicily. It is unclear whether the place name of çifti, which originated in Arbëresh "couple" (in relation to the two districts of St. Antonio and Magazeno), çifti, "eagle", or from the Latin Civitas. On the basis of the morphology of Ortes would be the real name "eagle's nest", because the place hidden by the rocks in front of the view of the marauding Saracens, is a lookout point; the view of an eagle on the ionian sea.
