Castiglione dei Pepoli is an Italian commune located in the region of Emilia-Romagna 57 kilometers south of the city of Bologna, to which it is connected by the highway Val di Setta and other motorway arteries. The municipality has 5648 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2015), covers an area of 65.8 square kilometers and is 691 meters above sea level. She is a member of the Comunità Montana Cinque Valli Bolognesi and is located on the river Setta. The main town lies on the ridge of Monte Gatta; around it extends a fairly wide area divided into localities, including Baragazza, Lagaro and Roncobilaccio. The natural boundaries of the municipality are delimited in the south by the Apennine arc, which extends from the village of San Giacomo to Lake Brasimone, in the west to Setta brook, in the north to the confluence of the Brasimone and Setta east of the Brasimone.
