Castel Bolognese

Castel Bolognese is a town of 9554 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2015) in the province of Ravenna in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. It is located between Imola and Faenza on Via Emilia. Castel Bolognese is characterized by surrounding vineyards and orchards agricultural. It was founded at the end of the 14th century by the Senate of Bologna as an outpost to defend its own territory. By decree Pope Pius VI beat. the city in 1794 Ravenna too. Under Napoléon Bonaparte Castel Bolognese belonged for a short time again to the province of Bologna and from 1814 now finally back to Ravenna. Castel Bolognese has been a partner of Abtsgmünd, Ostalbkreis, Baden-Württemberg since 2007.
