Bormio (obsolete German name: Worms in Valtellina, Romansh Buorm / i) is a municipality in the northern Italian province of Sondrio (Lombardy region). Bormio is the capital of the upper Veltlins. It is located on 1225 m s.l.m. and covers an area of ​​41 square kilometers. In 4121 inhabitants (December 31, 2015). You can reach Bormio z. B. trentin over the Tonalepass and Gaviapass from Comersee by the Valtellina and Livigno over the Foscagno-through. These routes are passable all year round. In summer, Bormio is also accessible by the Swiss Münstertal over the Umbrailpass and the Vinschgau in South Tyrol over the Stelvio. Internationally known Bormio is a thermal center and ski resort. 1985 and 2005, the Alpine Ski World took place here, a guest each year on the Pista Stelvio Alpine Ski World Cup. In total there are 50 kilometers of groomed ski slopes with 16 ski lifts. The longest run is 6 km long.
