Bard [bar] is a town with a population of 119 (December 31, 2015) in the Aosta Valley along the River Dora Baltea. It consists of the districts Issert, Crous, Albard and Valsourda. The neighboring municipalities are Arnad, Donnas and Hône. Bard is part of the Unité des Communes Valdôtaines Mont-Rose, an association of nine mountain communities who want to jointly preserve the cultural heritage and promote tourism in Valle d'Aosta. Bard is also one of the I Borghi più belli d'Italia (The most beautiful places in Italy). Worth seeing is the fortress of Bard, which was destroyed in 1800 by Napoleon, but up again in the 19th century and was expanded.
