Arta Terme (Furlan Darte) is a municipality in the province of Udine in Friuli, Italy with 2171 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2015). The place is located at 442m altitude on the river Bût in Carnia. The neighboring communities are Moggio Udinese, Paluzza, Paularo, Sutrio, Tolmezzo, Treppo Carnico and Zuglio. The name of the place is derived from the Latin artus (= narrow), since the valley narrows at this point. Arta Terme still has ten municipalities: Avosacco, Cabia, Cedarchis, Inquan, Lavoreit, Lovea, Piano d'Arta, Piedim, Rivalpo and Valle.
