Worpswede

Worpswede (Low German Worpsweed) is a municipality in the district Osterholz, in Lower Saxony, at the Hamme north-east of Bremen, located in Teufelsmoor middle, and a nationally recognized resort. The site is located at the 51 meter high elevation of Weyersberg which projects beyond the flat area. First traces of settlement date back to the Bronze Age. The place is known for the 1889 founded Worpswede as a living and working community of artists. The fellows site Worpswede belonged to 2009, the largest in the Federal Republic of Germany. In Worpswede numerous cultural institutions and galleries.
