Seesen is a town and an independent municipality in the district Goslar on the northwestern edge of the Harz between Göttingen and Hanover in the southeast of Lower Saxony. It was first documented in 974 and received in 1428 the city rights. Today Seesen has 19,988 inhabitants (1 March 2016, according to city administration) and again approaches the 20,000 inhabitants mark.
