The town Sassnitz (until February 2, 1993 Saßnitz) is a nationally recognized resort on the Baltic. It is located on the peninsula Jasmund in the northeast of the island of Ruegen and is part of the Vorpommern-Rügen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Germany). 2012 Sassnitz received the UNESCO World Heritage title for the rich beech forests in Jasmund in his municipality. North adjacent to the main town of the famous chalk cliffs begins with the Stubbenkammer and the King chair. In addition Sassnitz is known for its magnificent resort architecture of the resort center as well as a port city.
