Lindau (Bodensee) (alemannisch: Lindau / Lindou or Linda / Linde, formerly Lindau) is a district town and administrative center of the district of the same in the Bavarian administrative region of Swabia. The city until 1803 Free Imperial City, located on the eastern shore of Lake Constance in the border triangle Germany-Austria-Switzerland; its historic center, the old town standing total listed building is the magnificent Town Hall (built 1422-1436) at the Maximilian street on the island of Lindau. Lindau was 1496 location of the Reichstag.
