Lahr / Schwarzwald (to 30 September 1978 only after Lahr) is a city in western Baden-Württemberg, some 38 km north of Freiburg and 100 km south of Karlsruhe. It is named after the district town of Offenburg, the second largest city of Ortenaukreis and forms a center for the surrounding communities. With the entry into force of Baden-Wuerttemberg Municipal Code Lahr in 1956 became the district town. With the community Kippenheim the city has entered into an Agreed administrative matters.
