Finsterwalde (Lower Sorbian Grabin) is a town in southern Brandenburg and the most populous city in the Elbe-Elster. She was from 1952 to 1993 the seat of the district or county Finsterwalde. The hit of the late 19th century, "We are the singers of Finsterwalde" and called for this title Finsterwalder Song Festival made the city known nationwide. therefore may be used in official correspondence, since 2009, the additional title "singer city". Since May 16, 2013, the city leads with the permission of the Interior Ministry Brandenburg this additional designation officially, even on the entrance signs.
