Ellwangen

Ellwangen (Jagst) is a city in the east of Baden-Württemberg near the border with Bavaria, about 17 kilometers north of Aalen. It has approximately 27,000 inhabitants (2015) to Aalen and Schwabisch Gmund the third largest city of the Ostalbkreis district and a center for the surrounding communities. Since February 1, 1972 Ellwangen is large district. With communities Adelmannsfelden, Ellenberg, Jagstzell, Neuler, Rainau, Rosenberg and Wört is an Agreed administrative matters. The city was after 1806 ecclesiastical center of Neuwürttemberg with a small university. Worth seeing are the late Romanesque Basilica of St. Vitus, the sprawling Renaissance castle and the Sanctuary on Schoenberg.
