Castle Stargard (until 1929: Stargard) is a small town in the district Mecklenburg Lake District in the German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. On the castle hill stands the medieval castle Stargard, which gave the town its name. The place near Neubrandenburg is a basic center according to the Spatial Development Program and since 1992 the administrative headquarters of the Stargarder Land administration of six surrounding communities and the city (there were small changes in affiliation).
