Alzey is a combined-free city with nearly 18,000 inhabitants and the district administration office of the district Alzey-Worms in Rheinhessen in the southeastern Rhineland-Palatinate. Alzey is one of the Nibelungen cities, as the city is mentioned in the Nibelungenlied by Volker of Alzey. Therefore Alzey is also called Volker city. The city Alzey was from 3 to 5 June 2016 organizer of the 33rd Rhineland-Palatinate Day.
