Xilin Hot (Chinese 锡林浩特 市, pinyin Xilin Haote Shì; Mongolian ᠰᠢᠯᠢ ᠶᠢᠨ ᠬᠣᠲᠠ Shili-yin hota) is a county-level city in the Xilin Gol League in the northern center of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It covers an area of ​​15,758 and counts 150,000 inhabitants. Xilin Hot is the capital of the state. In May 2011, there were protests by the Mongols against the mining policies of the Beijing government, which promotes tougher coal mining in the region and regards it as energy base in the city. The government of the autonomous region then called on the mining industry to fulfill their social responsibility.
