Qinhuangdao (Chinese 秦皇島 市 / 秦皇岛 市, Pinyin shì Qínhuángdǎo, Island of the (first) Qin Emperor ') is a large city with coal port in mainland China. The city has about 2.7 million inhabitants, of which 761,141 in its three municipalities (1 January 2005). Located in the northeast of Hebei Province, it is near Liaoning Province. 1,900 foreign troops went here because of the Boxer Rebellion ashore. During the 2008 Olympic Games a total of twelve preliminary matches were played in football here.
